Reimagining Kentucky Country Music & New Orleans Jazz with Kelsey Waldon and Aurora Nealand

Country singer Kelsey Waldon grew up in the Ohio River bottoms of Ballard County Kentucky-a place called “Monkey’s Eyebrow” where her family has farmed for generations. She tells us about her journey as a songwriter, and her friendship with another hero of Kentucky, John Prine. Then a live set of New Orleans jazz and its Caribbean cousins with the widely acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, Aurora Nealand and her quartet at Artisound Studios in New Orleans 9th Ward.

JAZZ FEST WITH RANDY NEWMAN AND GENO DELAFOSE

April 26th, 2006

We’ve put away the Mardi Gras decorations, which means it’s time for the Jazz Festival in New Orleans! Tune in this week for some of our favorite Fest music and more. Nick joins the (New Orleans) LA to L.A. piano man Randy Newman for an onstage interview and live set. Then it’s over to the Fais-do-do Stage for a visit with Eunice, Louisiana-born accordion player and singer Geno Delafose. And there’s lots of great, live Jazz Fest music that you might’ve missed the first go-around. Drink plenty of water and don’t forget the sunscreen.
