Sixty Years of Arhoolie: An Anniversary Celebration
On December 10, Arhoolie Records celebrates 60 years of sharing regional American music and the Arhoolie Foundation marks its 25th anniversary with a free online concert featuring performances by Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top, Ry Cooder, Del McCoury of The Del McCoury Band, Members of Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ruthie Foster, Charlie Musselwhite Fan Page, La Marisoul & Max Baca, Beausoleil Trio, The Savoy Family Cajun Band, The Campbell Brothers, Barbara Dane, Csokolom, Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, La Familia Morales and a special appearance by the legendary Los Tigres del Norte.
The evening is hosted by Nick Spitzer of American Routes.
The 3rd annual Arhoolie Awards, honoring musicians, organizations, and individuals who carry on and uplift roots and regional musical styles, will be presented to: R&B singer Sugar Pie De Santo, Cajun fiddler Courtney Granger, New Orleans educational nonprofit The Roots of Music
And a special Chris Strachwitz Legacy Award to: Tejano accordion legend Flaco Jimenez
